The Role
We’re building a brand-new AI product and are looking for a Senior Product Manager with CDP (Customer Data Platform) experience to take it from concept to market.
This is a true zero-to-one opportunity. You’ll define the product vision, identify the target customer, and shape how the product works. You’ll partner closely with machine learning engineers, prompt engineers, product designers, and product engineers to deliver an AI-native experience that creates meaningful value for Shopify merchants.
What You’ll Do
- Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, from discovery through launch and iteration
- Define product vision, strategy, and roadmap grounded in customer needs and AI/ML feasibility
- Partner with ML and prompt engineering teams to evaluate model capabilities, define guardrails, and design human-in-the-loop systems
- Design and run rapid experiments to validate AI-driven features and customer value
- Develop clear product specs, success metrics, and evaluation frameworks (accuracy, safety, trust)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, customer success, and leadership
- Stay current on the AI and ecommerce landscape, identifying opportunities and risks
- Act as a key advocate for the product vision, both internally and externally
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of product management experience, including 2+ years working on AI/ML-powered products
- Proven experience building and launching zero-to-one products (not just incremental improvements)
- Background in ecommerce SaaS, martech, or messaging platforms (strongly preferred)
- Strong technical fluency in AI/ML concepts, including models, prompting, evaluation, and data systems
- Sound product judgment—you know when AI adds real value and when it doesn’t
- A bias toward action: you ship quickly, learn from data, and iterate
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex AI concepts for diverse audiences
- Hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) to enhance your work
- A builder mindset—you’ve created prototypes, demos, or tools using AI (bonus if you can share examples)
